My Story

My focus is to create beautiful interior designs which not only meet my client’s goals, but exceed their expectations.  My unique design style effortlessly blends sophistication with fun and whimsy. From cleverly mixed color to influences from travel, history, photography and art, I achieve an unexpected aesthetic that has become my signature. My eclectic approach to interiors that shine with personality results both from my fifteen years of Interior Design experience as well as from the years I spent living in Italy.

I first developed my love of design and textiles while working in the Fashion Industry as a Textile Designer.  Inspired by the prospect of designing interiors, I went on to study at New York School of Interior Design.  After the completion of my studies, I had the great fortune of working with several firms both large and small. I began my Interior Design career designing High-End Residences with a firm in NYC.  From there, I worked at a small Commercial and Hospitality Architecture and Design Firm in Greenwich, CT before landing at a larger firm in which I became part of the team that opened the NYC offices of JCJ Architecture.

Throughout my career, I have designed a multitude of varied interiors ranging from Hotels, Restaurants, Bars, Casinos and Historical Renovations to High-End Residences in the US and abroad.  Some of my most notable projects have included:

Smith and Wollensky Boston, MA

The Balsams Grand Resort, NH

Renovation of Junior's  Brooklyn, NY

Southlands Casino Memphis, TN

Mohegan Sun Casino, CT

Nashville Airport Retail, TN

The Empire State Building, NYC

Renovation of David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center, NYC

Westin Hotel, CT

In 2008, I moved to Rome, Italy, in order to expand my horizons by focusing on new creative avenues.  During my years in Italy, I learned photography, took a painting course, traveled to amazing destinations and immersed myself in the Italian culture.  By observing the Italian way of life, I learned to take the time to stop to smell "l'odore delle rose" and found art in everyday life. As a designer, I couldn’t help but be influenced by their innate sense of style and attention to creative detail, which I apply to my designs today.

Since returning, I have followed my passion for interior design by successfully completing several design projects which inevitably led to the opening of Julie Garman Interiors, LLC.  Currently, I am working on numerous projects including the renovation of a salon in NYC, several residences located on the West and East Coasts as well as visual installations for retail stores in NYC.  I have the capabilities to provide interior designs for residential, hospitality and commercial projects in the US and abroad. Committed to client service including close attention to detail, Julie Garman Interiors creates interiors that combine beauty with comfort resulting in a personalized space that is distinctively your own.
